Genae Yeldell is a recent graduate of the Stivers School for the Arts class of 2018, where her magnet was dance. Her training at Stivers included ballet, modern, contemporary, along with exposure to various other techniques and styles. During Genae’s time in the department, she had the opportunity to be apart of numerous community outreach programs, attend master classes and intensives around the nation, and additionally, attend both the 2017 & 2018 International Association of Blacks in Dance Conference.

 

Through these experiences, Genae has had the chance to train and learn under renown choreographers, dancers, and directors from various companies. Also at Stivers, Genae had the honor of being inducted into Mu Alpha Theta (math honor society), The National Society of High School Scholars (Atlanta, GA), Stivers’ National Honor Society chapter, where she served as Vice President, and being in the top 10 percentile of her class. She began dancing at the age of 3 at Roberta Lynn’s School of Dance and later continued her training at age 8 with the Chenaulte Dancers’ studio.

 

She is very happy to announce that the 2017-2018 competition season marked as her tenth season as a Chenaulte dancer, and that this experience has definitely helped to mold her into who she is today. In the fall, Genae plans to attend Miami University in Oxford, OH, where she will pursue a degree in Middle Childhood Education with a minor in Dance.
